12/5/2023 2 Comments Blog #32: Compare and contrast one photo/artwork from SAWA, with one of your own.The photo on the left by Ashley Connor, is a photo of a forest or camping area, in black and white. The composition of the photo makes it so that the picture was taken a little bit father away from the tree line, allowing the viewer to see more of the trees, and the contrast that the shadows provide with the light. The main highlight of the photo is the contrast of the black trees with the white lighting shining through, as the tents in the background aren't as noticeable. The photo on the right, "Shores" by me, has a different subject than Ashley Connors, with the subject being the ocean, however a similarities is that both of the photos are in black and white. The photo on the right also has high contrast, with the blacks being the rocks, and the white or light grays being the ocean and sky. Both photos are very good, and have strong contrasting values. A way that I could improve would be to have a more diverse photo, as Ashley Connor has multiple aspects to it.

The composition of the photo makes it so that the carriage portion of the structure is in the middle, it is also important to mention that there is a lot of diagonal lines in the photo, which enhances the over all composition and structure of the photo. On the other hand, the photo on the right has a completely different subject than the photo on the left, which are bright orange flowers instead of the carriage structure on the left. Even though the photo on the right isn't a pop color photo, the bright orange helps in giving it a unique significant color to concentrate on. The composition is also different, as the photo on the left was taken from far away, while the photo on the right was a close up. My photo can get to award winning levels by using software to make it more unique, as well as have a higher quality camera.

The photo already has a unique perspective due to it being an aerial shot. The composition also helps, and it shows how vast and expansive it is including a lot of vibrant and beautiful greens and blues. On the other hand, the photo on the right, "Lava Tubes" is a picture on the entrances to a very old lava tube. The composition is different that Steinmetz's picture because mine is from ground level or eye level. While both pictures have a lot of plants and green in it, his is much more vibrant and uniform, while mine is much more natural and has more variety. Also to mention the fact that his covers the vast expanses of the are while mine ends very abruptly at the darkness of the cave.

The focal point and pancake and the syrup, which is emphasized by the composition. The photo itself is also very bright, with lots of lighting and white objects in the background. This makes the photo feel more professional, besides the staged background and higher quality camera. My photo on the other hand, "MNGO" is a photo based on the variety plater served at the café, and it is a lot softer in terms of coloration and lighting, as well as the fact that the photo wasn't staged. The composition is also different as it takes up the whole photo with little background. A big difference is the terms of the quality, as it was taken on a cell phone.

The photo is mainly in black and white , with only the shoe and its coloring being exempt from it. This allows a viewers attention to be drawn to the shoes. The placement of the shoes range, as one is placed near the upper left hand corner while the other is at the lower bottom right. In the photo on the right "LLLReptile AD" by Savannah Handy, has a completely different subject than Donovan Robinsons picture. The composition of the photo is also very different, with it being an up close shot with the subject, the snake, in the center. The photo is also completely colored and saturated, with text on it.

The composition on the phot make it looking up on her, and her gaze avoids the audience. On the photo on the right "Shores" by Savannah Handy, is on a inanimate object, such as Hawaii's shores, but like Cindy Sherman's photo, it is in black and white. There is a lot more harsh, contrasting black on my photo, while Cindy Sherman has a lot of greys and lighter colors. Even though our photos are different in terms of subjects, they are similar in the sense that they are both in black and white.
11/7/2023 0 Comments Blog #26: Compare and contrast one Advertising photo from ATPI with one of your own.On the photo on the left on Yellow Stone National Park, by Vanessa Ramirez, is about the beauty and abundance there is in Yellow Stone. On the photo on the right about a pet store, by Savannah Handy, has a different subject, advertising the pet stores reptiles. The composition of the photos are very different, as the one by me is more up close than Vanessa Ramirez, as she was taking a photo of landscape while my subject was a reptile. They both have a lot of color, as well as the place of advertising and slogan or incentive. One of the differences is that my photo does not have a logo like Vanessa Ramirez's does, partly due to the absence of a picture logo. Both photos are good, in their own unique ways,

The composition of the photo is directly on the jellyfish, and it has a blue-to-black gradient for the background. The quality of the photo is high, and it in its entirety is brightly and vibrant despite being very simple with few colors. On the photo on the right, "Floating Jellyfish" by Savannah Handy, has multiple of the same subjects, the jellyfish. Despite both of the photos being on jellyfish, the photo on the right is much more monotone and greyscale, with the background a much darker blue. Even though both of the photos are on similar subjects, both of them are also very different photos.

It also has very strong colors, even though they are dull. The subject of the photo is sitting in a very striking pose, and in my opinion in is a very strong, confident and commanding pose. On the photo on the right, "Floating Jellyfish", by Savannah Handy, has multiple similar subjects, which are jellyfish, and light, soft colorations with out much color. The photos give off opposite feelings, with Lee Millers giving off a more confident, while mine gives off a more peaceful and tranquil one.

On the photo on the left, "Double Exposure Orange", by Savannah Handy, is a digital art piece combining my drawing of an orange and the background from an garden art piece. The subjects of each photo are completely, with Grant Wood being on his famous portrait and its models. My photo is just a drawing of an orange with a unique background. Grant Woods photo is in black and white, while my photo is in color. They are completely difference, but still both photos.
